After reading so much intellectually intense material the last few weeks (Island, Gravity’s Rainbow, The Odyssey, Transforming a Rape Culture, 1Q84, Introduction to Modern Philosophy) it’s nice to sit down and spend an hour reading a book that doesn’t require so much thinking. I just started Wild by Cheryl Strayed and it is amazing. It’s really intelligently written and witty and inspiring. Loving it. I’ll pick up The Odyssey again tomorrow…

I need some help, fellow book lovers!
I’m looking for books for a 7 year old girl to help her get to love reading! So, what were your favorite books when you were between 5 and 7 years old??

Thank you, miss-mutant, for bringing to my attention the mis-credit in the quote I posted earlier. It was not said by Robet Pattinson (big surprise) but was actually said by Rosemarie Urquico!
“I read books you gave me, books you recommended to me, and books I know you enjoy, because it makes me feel closer to you.”

“I can’t use my Kindle! I need to feel the pages betwen my fingers.”
“… Luke, I can give you post-it notes to hold if it makes you feel better.”
“It’s not the same!!”
